Lin's Chinese New Year Dumplings

Marin was kind enough to share her dumpling making secrets with us in the classroom.  These dumplings are so easy and delicious, I just had to get her to jot down the recipe-- it's foolproof.

Ingredients:
1lb pork or turkey sausage (mushroom can be subbed if you don't eat meat; veggies and more spice can be added to taste)
1 clove garlic minced
1 & 1/2 teaspoon ginger minced
2 spoonfuls of brown sugar
sesame oil
1 package dumpling wrappers
small bowl of water
*So delicious, you may want to double the recipe!

Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together and then drizzle some sesame oil in and mix a bit more.  Drop small spoonfuls of mixture on middle of a dumpling wrapper.  Wet finger and moisten edge of wrapper all the way around.  Fold wrapper over and squeeze the wet edges together, forming a packet for the meat.

Cooking:
Bring a pot of water to boil then reduce heat so pot doesn't boil over.  Drop dumplings into the hot water in groups; they'll float when they are done!  Pull them out with a slotted spoon or ladle.

Eating:
Serve en masse and enjoy with dipping sauce of your choice:  soy, chili, hoisin etc.

Thanks to Lin and Family!
